Pistol Shrimp & Starved Rock Media Announce Broadcast Partnership

PERU, Ill. - Pistol Shrimp Baseball announced today a radio broadcast partnership with Starved Rock Media, making 103.9 WLPO the flagship station for Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp for the 2023 season.

All 58 Pistol Shrimp regular season games and all Pistol Shrimp postseason games will be aired live on FM 103.9, AM 1220, and streamed online at starvedrock.media/wlpo. Fans can also click through the Pistol Shrimp mobile app or website to connect and listen for free to WLPO.

WLPO has a long history of local sports coverage. "Today we're proud to announce a partnership with the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp Prospect League baseball team to broadcast all their 2023 games," says Starved Rock Media President John Spencer.

The Voice of Pistol Shrimp Baseball, and Illinois Valley native, Lucas Burris returns to the Pistol Shrimp for his third season behind the mic and will lead the radio broadcast.

The partnership is an important one for growing the Pistol Shrimp fan base. "We know the quality of our broadcast content and the talent of our players is tops in the Prospect League. This is an incredible opportunity to share that with fans as they listen live to Pistol Shrimp games on the most recognizable station in the Illinois Valley," says General Manager June Keeley.

The Pistol Shrimp will open the 2023 season on the road in Springfield against the Lucky Horseshoes on May 31st. They'll debut at home on Friday, June 2nd versus the Burlington Bees at Schweickert Stadium in Peru.
