New Marion, Ill., Team Named Thrillville Thrillbillies
MARION, Ill. – After more than 7,000 votes, much debate and great anticipation, the staff at Rent One Park announced Thursday, the name of the group's new, Prospect League Team will be the Thrillville Thrillbillies.
Dave Kost, General Manager at Rent One Park says, "We couldn't be happier with the response to our public survey to choose a team name. After the votes were counted, Thrillbillies was the winner."
The team will not have one but two mascots: a rabbit and a white-tailed deer.
"Normally, a rabbit and white-tailed deer are timid creatures, but these two, one on a side-by-side and one airborne, are Thrillbillies to the core," explains Herby Voss, Marketing Specialist at the Black Diamond Family of Businesses. "Whether you get your thrills on a jet ski or from a fully loaded black angus burger on a Krispy Kreme donut, we think you're Thrillbillies too!"
The Thrillbillies will compete in the nine-team Western Conference that also includes the Alton River Dragons, Burlington Bees, Cape Girardeau Catfish, Clinton LumberKings, Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp, Jackson Rockabillys, O'Fallon Hoots, and the Quincy Gems.
The public is invited back to the ballpark on March 23 to learn more about plans to transform Rent One Park into the capital of Thrillville. Season tickets and Thrillbillies apparel is currently available online at www.GoThrillbillies.com.
