Mill Rats Beat Kings 6-2

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Another strong performance on the mound propelled the Johnstown Mill Rats to a 6-2 victory over the Champion City Kings in Prospect League action on Tuesday night, finishing off a two-game sweep.

Mill Rats starter Christian Hack earned the win after giving up two runs on five hits over 6 1⁄3 innings before being removed in the seventh due to hitting the pitch count limit. Hack struck out six and walked just one.

Andrew Kribbs shut the door in relief, retiring eight of the nine batters he faced in 2 2⁄3 innings. Kribbs allowed no hits, while walking one batter and striking out four.

Johnstown's two pitchers gave up just single tallies in the first and fifth innings following the team's first shutout victory of the season last night. The Mill Rats scored all six of their runs in their first four consecutive turns at bat.

Sam Mast tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI single in the bottom of the first before a three-run second gave Johnstown a 4-1 lead. Chase Cromer drove in a run with a single and Damian Yenzi plated two runners with a base knock.

In the third, Kribbs hit a towering home run over the screen in left field, while Pete Capobianco rounded out Johnstown's scoring with a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Yenzi and Cromer each tallied two hits to lead the Mill Rats. Cromer scored twice.

Johnstown (16-21, 4-2) hosts West Virginia to open a two-game set at 7 p.m. Wednesday night.
